Confortable, but fingertips are velcro sensitive!, May 11, 2011

Pros: comfortable, well ventilated and nice looking! (specially the carbon fiber is quite cool). I’ve used it in a 260KM (161m) ride and it is really comfortable.

Cons: finger tips (more precisely the back of fingertips) is made of a fabric that will suffer if in contact with velcro! I imagine that with time it will probably tear, this is why I’m giving 3 stars. My dirt bike has saddlebags with velcro as also my leather jacket pockets. If you consider that this is not an ‘el cheapo’ glove from an unknown brand, it is certainly a huge flaw in the design.

I have huge hands, but not enormous, and the X-Generous was a tight fit (initially I assumed that ‘Generous’ would be excellent enough but changed my mind in the last minute). The feeling of handlebar and throttle doesn’t change judiciously using this gloves, which is a excellent thing.

It is *not* water proof, surpass suited for a sunny summer ride.

Few hours of riding, and the thing tore up, October 7, 2012

I bought them 2 months ago, and I ride about 10KM per day (20 minutes per day). After two weeks, the fingers’ shield of the left glove just fell…
After another two more weeks, the flexible strip on the back of the left glove, tore up as well.
The thing is that I just wear them for a routine home-to-work ride, which is eventless and very cool.
Bottom line – i’m very disappointed, i had higher expectations from alpinestar equipment.

I use these gloves for cool days to blisteringly hot days. Even though it has more leather on it than last year’s develop, they both seem to have the same airflow (which is fantastic for these Georgia summers). Another change is that the wrist strap is now made of micro velcro, which catches on clothes and helmet liners a lot less.

Though these aren’t as tough as my AP SP-X, they do offer a higher array of motion.
They are comfortable enough that I have worn them for most of the day and could not make any complaints. In stipulations of durability, the white leather stains straightforwardly and the fibers on the fingertips have been pulled out by the velcro straps. They look like I’ve had them for years, not months. The essentials, like seams and armor, are subdue completely intact, though.

    Largest pro: comfort
    Largest con: durability

Edit: I originally gave these 5 stars, but after three month’s worth of use, the micro velcro gradually deteriorated and lost all function. Go with the bulkier SP-X develop, they subdue provide excellent comfort, but its ordinary velcro straps have given me no problems!
