Best jacket you will find for $200 – worth twice that., January 22, 2014

    R. Smith “VT 93″ (Kingsport, TN) –

After looking at leather jackets for over a year I bought a new Rifleman from STS. It was the style I was looking for and the quality was far surpass than whatever thing else I found. I rejected most jackets I looked at because the leather was more like tissue paper than leather, or they had the feel of cloth. The STS jacket leather is thick and it feels like leather should feel. It is very heavy compared to everything else I saw, not a summer time jacket for sure. I am a cheapskate but I would luckily pay double the cost for this jacket, it is that nice. The only flaw is that it is not made in the US, this is a product of Pakistan. I proposed to buy a US made jacket, but I could not even find one. I have no doubt that “Fonzie” would wear this jacket and be pleased.

This really is a fantastic coat! I looked nearly and most other online places wanted over $300 for it. It’s very comfortable and heavy. It’s gorgeous leather that looks to be very high quality. For any person wondering about the concealed carry pocket, it’s not fantastic but it does have an elastic band inside to keep a handgun from just bouncing nearly in a vertical pocket. You’d certainly have to practice drawing from it. I just recently got a DeSantis shoulder holster for my Kimber so I’ll stick to that. The inside lining is grey and seems of very excellent quality. I nearly can’t wait for winter! I’d buy it time and time again!

It’s not just a “leather jacket”. It’s a very nice jacket that also happens to be made of leather., October 6, 2014

    Hulk … pleased.

    Oh yeah.
This jacket is nicer than I expected. Excellent quality with discreet styling. It fits surpass than I expected. Mainly in the armpits. Most leather jackets I’ve tried are too tight in the pits. I’ve got huge forearms and biceps too. Most coats are too tight on my upper arms. I’m a 3x in shirts and bought a 4x because it is insulated and I expect to wear it with t-shirts and button up winter shirts underneath. The sleeves are long enough for me, Usually are a bit small. I’m halfway between “regular” and “tall” on sleeve part. The fit across the shoulders is broad enough with no stretch or binding. The cut of the jacket really makes me look less chubby and is natural looking zipped or unzipped.

The leather looks fantastic. It is distressed but the effect is subtle. Excellent affect deepness and texture. Looks like a well cared for older coat rather than a new coat that’s been artificially aged.

Grey quilted liner is comfortable on bare arms. Has light insulation. Doesn’t feel heavy but is warm enough for comfort down to maybe 35 degrees. Add a flannel shirt and t shirt underneath and straightforwardly comfortable into 20’s.

Sturdy brass zipper. Smallest and excellent quality brass hardware.
Left breast snap closed pocket has a thick elastic loop inside. I’m assuming this is for concealed carry. The elastic loop is a double loop. the top one is a bit too huge but would work for a small holster. the bottom one is smaller. It handles my 24/ 7 nicely and doesn’t show a bulge. the pocket can be twisted out so a person with a sewing machine could fold the elastic and run a line of stitching across to customize for smaller barrels. The loop and pocket are attached to the interior panel of material and not the outer shell so the weight is not on the outer jacket where it would be obvious.
The right breast has a buzz pocket that works for my I buzz (it has a case on it and subdue fits fine) . There is a vertical zippered wallet pocket and also a horizontal pocket suitable for folded documents/plane tickets.

    Smells fantastic.

I’m never pleased with most styles of coat. I like quality and a small style but not dressy or pretentious. I also don’t like the look that most leather products provide that say “I’m trying really hard to be cool.”

This coat is very cool by goodness of doing it all right (for me at least) but not looking out of place or juvenile.

Huge guys take note- I’m a huge guy with a belly and this jacket does not make me look like I’m trying to cover my gut. You know how leather coats and even suit coats and jackets just hang … out … there and make it look worse. This cut looks very natural and doesn’t call attention to the belly. I’m 6 foot tall and 290. My chest is 50 inches and my belly is about 52. My arms are a bit longer than a regular shirt part but a tall is too long. This jacket fits me fantastic in a 4x with room to layer comfortably for cold weather.

Fashion for huge and tall is hard to get right because the “small and skinny designers” really don’t get it when it comes to huge people.
I don’t know if this designer “get’s it” or if it’s just a pleased accident but this coat really looks excellent on me.
For the price I paid, $205.67 on Amazon, I couldn’t be more pleased.

    Oh yeah,
    Made in TEXAS.
