HJC CS-R1 Dark Smoke Shield, September 26, 2010
    By
    Andrew

I bought this shield for my HJC CS-R1 for thats stealthly look and to not have to wear sunglasses in my helmet and it works fantastic. Its perfectly what I was looking for because I never need to carry my sunglasses nearly and I never need to swap back to my clear shield, as visibility out of the helmet is subdue really excellent at night even with the dark tint. Its not like riding with sun glasses, where its really hard to see. Most of the time during the day and all the time at night visibility into the helmet is real low, so if you’re going for that sneaky, mysterious look, this is a real plus.

My only terrible encounter with this shield was about a week after i got it, it would get more and more stuck as I would try to open it from the fully closed position. It was not any problem with the shield, just habitual accumilation of dirt and such and it was straightforwardly fixed with some silicone lubricant.

Poor fit, excellent coating, October 3, 2011
    By

Nearly 2 years ago, I replaced the clear poly shield that came with my HJC helmet with this one.
-The picture is not really representative of the appearance: mine had no gradient and has a mirror-like silver coating (which is what I wanted)
-The coating has held up even today, does a fantastic job of shielding the eyes, and offers a small privacy. You shouldn’t use this type of visor at night, but if you’re stuck with it, it’s like looking through 30 or 40% automotive window tint which is not too terrible.
-The fitment isn’t exact. The visor clunks into each “position” and doesn’t want to close the last 1 cm, I have to push it down securely to make sure it seals against the rubber
-As mentioned above, the optics aren’t exact, but mine really has no problems in stipulations of artifacts and visual irregularities.

    I like it, November 2, 2011

This fits perfectly on my Cl-SP. I like having the dark smoke shield for riding on sunny days. The shield is dark enough to block out sun but not too dark to be a protection concern. No more fussing with sunglasses. I certainly reccommend this product.
