EXACTLY the same as PowerMadd Speed Clip, but cheaper and DOT approved, May 6, 2012

When I bought my last FF helmet, I chose to try a quick-release clip, mostly because I was tired of fumbling nearly with D-rings while wearing gloves.

I bought the PowerMadd speed-clips and was very impressed at how quickly and straightforwardly they attached, AND how well they work. Since I have more than one helmet, I chose to buy speed-clips for all of them. These Raider brand clips are exactly the same as PowerMadd, right down to the booster mold marks, and cost less!

Installation is simple, connect either the square or round clip through the webbing that holds the D-rings, or capture behind the D-rings (if they are sewn to the strap). Clip the square or round clip into the receiver and that side is done! The other side is simply a matter of threading the strap through the “grip-clips”.

Most people nag that these cannot be used if you have the small “snap” on your strap (which keeps the excess strap from flapping in the wind)… THIS IS NOT TRUE, but you DO have to cut your strap to REMOVE the snap from the end… you won’t need it any longer anyway, so go ahead and cut it off… use excellent sharp scissors, make a round or angle cut, and burn the edges with a lighter to melt the nylon and keep it from fraying.

    UPDATE:
I’ve been using these Quick Release Clips on my helmets now for over a year, without one issue to report. I’ve recently added helmets (different styles and sizes) to replace/upgrade for myself and other family members, and just ordered several more of these Quick Release Clips… you can’t beat the comfort and skill to quickly secure your chin-strap (and release it with one finger). I seriously don’t know why these are not ordinary on every helmet sold! These are a MUST-HAVE if you are constantly having to take your helmet on and off (small commutes, errand-runs, etc.)!

    Outclasses the “other brand”…, July 25, 2013

First, I have been riding motorcycles for over 51 years which gives me a small knowledge as to how excellent or terrible accessories might be. As such, my reviews are honest appraisals of what I believe works and what doesn’t.

That said, I had been looking for a excellent quick release for about a month and eventually settled on getting the “Echo” brand. I bought into the promotion point it was sturdier because the snaps were metal, not plastic, coupled with the favorable reviews outweighing the negatives. Man, was I incorrect. This release was hard to place on the helmet and doubly hard to take off. But the worse thing was, (as also mentioned in most of the negative reviews), I could not get the thing buckled, even when looking in a mirror. I screwed nearly forever trying one way then another and irrevocably gave up. It now sits in the junk drawer.

I then chose I would try this plastic Raider Quick Release…and couldn’t be more pleased that I did. While right it is all plastic, it is very sturdy and snaps in and out soundly. Once on I found it keeps your helmet snug and is very simple to snap it on and off with the button release. Oh, and this fit on all my different brand helmets.

Thus, the bottom line is I would buy this item again and, in fact, am in the process of picking up a couple more. For me, this is a five star quick snap.
There were a few things I did have to work through so I mention them here to save you a small time.

First, even though this is called a “Raider” quick snap, it is exactly the same as another one being sold called the “Quick Hook”, which really makes the Raider. I bought this one because it was a surpass deal.

Second, if your helmet strap has a button snap on the end be advised it will-not-fit through, you’re going to have to cut the end off and burn the strap tip to keep it from fraying. Neither of these are a huge deal but some people can’t result in themselves to “change” their helmet. If’ you’re one of them, don’t buy this. I also cut off the metal ring holders as well because I didn’t like the “jangling” or look of them hang down.

Third, the instructions I found a small confusing but you can remedy that by going onto YouTube and search, “dirt bike helmet quick release” and it will result in up some installation videos. The best one I found was by J&P Cycles. It is listed as how to install the Quick Hook but believe me, it is exactly the same device and instruction.

    Hope this helps.

FOLLOW UP: Bought two more of these clips; subdue working fantastic.
