This charger is a very nice charger. Prospective buyers should be aware (I was) that there is no automatic shut-off when battery is fully charged. There is a timer to regulate the part of charging time. I did not realize by the specs & write up that the “tester” was a unadorned volt meter. I already own 3 or 4 of those on different testers. Even though there is a convenience factor to the meter being mounted in the charger – I would not have paid so much more for it had I realized a voltmeter was all that it is. Also I wanted to see a sturdier set of wheels & tires that would make it roll surpass in gravel & dirt. I am certain that the high quality of this charger will give me many years of benefit. The 3 year manufacturers warranty is fantastic. Shipping time was exceptional.

Someone said the tester was just a voltmeter, so I got it because a voltmeter is adequate for a quick test at the car. But it is a voltmeter that only goes up to 12.7 volts!!!! And it has no numbers on it. Even with the fact the meter says “charging system” condition on it, it is only capable of measuring battery voltage. The meter is pegged in the green with 12.7 volts. (resting Voltage for a fully charged battery) Which means if you believed the word “excellent” on the “charging system” meter, you’d reckon the alternator was charging, but it may not be. It only tells you if the battery is charged or not (with the car off, and no surface charge on it). The manual clarifies that is it testing the battery, but it is not labeled well on the charger, and in the advertising.

Excellent, inexpensive manual charger, but VERY limited “tester”.

This is a fantastic charger. I ordered it and received it three days later with ordinary shipping charges. Pretty impressive huh!!!
The only terrible thing is the plastic, booster molded tires that come with the unit. They are hollow and pretty thin. I can’t imagine they would last any part of time if it is went nearly frequently. I did not even place them on the unit. I went to Home Depot and bought some hard rubber tires with metal wheels and had to buy some bushings as the axle on the unit is honestly small. It is now a fantastic unit! Schumacher should just spend a small bit more for surpass tires and charge four or five dollars more.
